Germany is increasingly getting attention from Salesforce.com and other enterprise cloud computing companies. The country’s business climate is very positive, and the German IT landscape is adopting cloud computing technologies rapidly. Today, Salesforce announced that chairman and CEO Marc Benioff will deliver the keynote address at two industry events in Munich, Germany: the DLD Conference on Jan. 24, 2011 at 11:20 CET (5:20 a.m. ET), and the 17th Annual Handelsblatt Conference, Strategic IT-Management, on Jan. 25 at 11:00 CET (5:00 a.m. ET).
Widely recognized as the pioneer of cloud computing, salesforce.com founder Benioff has transformed salesforce.com into a publicly traded company that is a leader in enterprise cloud computing. Today, salesforce.com is one of the fastest growing companies in the world and was ranked fourth on FORTUNE’s “100 Fastest-Growing Companies” in 2010.
Marc Benioff will focus his speech especially around Salesforce’s next generation concept of cloud computing: Cloud 2. Whereas the first generation of cloud computing was about leveraging technologies that were low cost, fast and easy to use; the next generation of cloud computing is social, mobile and real-time.
Salesforce has been promoting the Cloud 2 concept for a while and is moving all of its products into the new concept, e.g. Force.com 2.
Force.com 2 is the fast and open path to build Cloud 2 apps. Cloud 2 represents the new generation of real-time enterprise applications that are social, mobile, and built in the cloud. Research from several analyst firms shows that building apps on Force.com is about five times faster than building on traditional on-premises platforms. The Force.com platform is open and easily accessible by other cloud apps and platforms, such as Amazon Web Services, Google App Engine and more via its powerful Web services APIs.
